Researchers at University of Cincinnati have grown nearly 2 cm long carbon nanotubes. The significance of this world record breaking effort of Prof. Mark Schulz and his team is such that they have now reduced the average human height to less than 100 nanotubes. Not long ago stacking of 100 nanotubes would have barely risen above the ground level. By their ground breaking research effort, Prof. Schulz and his team have shown the potential to realize the space elevator dream and have brought space closer to us by many orders of magnitude. For further detailsĀ click here.
