Syringe Exhibition

giant-needle.JPGWhen asked how they feel about needles and syringes, most people’s reaction is one of horror or alarm… or so you would think.  An Exhibition being hosted by the University of Melbourne’s Centre for Health and Society is aiming to challenge the way the public thinks about needles and syringes by providing insights into the diversity of possible applications of these devices. Associate Dean Professor John Fitzgerald, Curator of the Exhibition, plans to use footage and displays in order to demonstrate the range of emotions which needles can inspire, and also to highlight how these emotions are dependent on the capacity in which the needles are used.  Also on display will be a historical showcase of needles and syringes, through to futuristic drug delivery devices based on Nanotechnology.  Whether your reaction is one of hope, fear, pain or confidence, this Exhibition promises to challenge your perception of needles and syringes in the most unexpected ways!

The Needle and Syringe Cultures Exhibition will run from July 18th to July 28th at The Executive Lounge, Level 1 Gilbert Building, Grattan Street in Melbourne.
